It’s Quiet Today
Published June 26th, 2007Mostly because today is a Day of Silence. Many netradio stations across the web have gone silent to protest the impending doom of excessive rate hikes. It will instantly shut down a huge number of stations. There is a campaign to stop it, but people need to do their part. You can find more information at savenetradio.org. It’s a worthy cause. I like netradio. I don’t listen to a ton of it, but I’m glad it’s there when I want it. I listen to it at work sometimes, and sometimes when I’m playing games or doing photo editing. I like hearing new stuff, and that there’s an endless random set always coming at me. I get bored of my mp3s sometimes.
My favorite station is Digitally Imported. They have anything I want to listen to - vocal trance, indie, alternative, whatever. Sometimes I’ll try a new channel, just to see what it’s like. It’s quiet today. It will go permanently silent if the rate hike happens. And that would totally suck. I’ve been a DI fan since it started in 2000. Hopefully enough people will contact their congresscritters to support the bills in progress to save netradio.
