    Dead On!

    Published August 27th, 2008

Mad props to Entertainment Weekly and their 25 funniest movies since 1983 (??) list. #25 is none other than Withnail and I, which reminds me terribly of Kyra and is goddamn hilarious. Other notables, Clerks at #21, Office Space at #5 and an absolutely classic Top 3.

    LPGA: Ladies PolyGlot Association?

Sports. We’ve all been pretty focused on sports lately, what with the Olympics and all, and especially international sports. We’ve celebrated athletic greatness, peak human conditioning, from all over the world. Does it matter that certain countries dominate in certain ways? Eastern Europe and Central Asia are weightlifting powerhouses. Jamaica puts out extremely talented sprinters, […]

    Olympic “Sports”

    Published August 18th, 2008

sport - noun. an athletic activity requiring skill or physical prowess and often of a competitive nature, as racing, baseball, tennis, golf, bowling, wrestling, boxing, hunting, fishing, etc.
A very general definition of sport. And how does a sport differ from a game, or an exhibition (of athletic ability)? It’s all semantics and I admit […]

What on earth do you expect to hear?

    Published August 7th, 2008

Of late (like, the past 2 months) the flow of responses I’ve garnered on Match has gone from a trickle to nothing at all. Apparently, I’m not really a match for anyone on the site. Hooray! Not one to give up (hah, just means I’m a glutton for punishment) I’ve moved to Chemistry to see […]

    A(n in)significant lull

    Published July 25th, 2008

July around here has been pretty quiet. Damn quiet. I don’t have much to write about of late. Still single with not much going on in that front - though not for lack of trying. Still doing the same old stuff at work. About the only interesting thing is trying to learn CakePHP. MySQL has […]

    On Concentration

    Published July 17th, 2008

So the British Open - excuse me, The Open Championship - is happening right now. It’s Tiger-free, which I’m sure most players are glad for. However, it may not have mattered, the weather conditions are positively brutal. Royal Birkdale - the course - isn’t considered a difficult one (compared to some on the British Open […]

    32 Sci-Fi Novels I Should Read

    Published July 2nd, 2008

At least, according to a list I came across today. It’s not the worst list in the world - but of course I do have a couple complaints.
    1) Foundation (Foundation Novels) - Isaac Asimov
Haven’t read it. Heard of it of course. Is on my “read before I die” list. That’s a long list - way […]

All Black Politicians are the Same

    Published June 25th, 2008

At least, according to Ralph Nader. Why people have ever listened to this guy, I have no freaking clue. They should stop encouraging him. Why anyone would vote for him is beyond me. Nader said:
“I haven’t heard him have a strong crackdown on economic exploitation in the ghettos. Payday loans, predatory lending, asbestos, lead. What’s […]

Well There’s a Can of Worms

    Published June 24th, 2008

Everyone’s favorite religious wacko, James Dobson, has pretty much invalidated many of his own moral arguments. And it seems he’s too short-sighted to even realize it.
It seems that Mr. Dobson has taken umbrage with some comments made in a speech by Barack Obama. He went on his radio show and did his best to tear […]

    Yeah, I Blew It

    Published June 16th, 2008

So yeah, true to form and what should have been totally obvious to me from the start - I should not have scheduled the MySQL Developer I exam for Friday the goddamn thirteenth. The first omen was when they called me earlier in the week to tell me that my testing center no longer existed, […]
