So I just bought Anathem today. I can’t wait to read it, here’s some reasons why:
Hooray, Neal Stephenson!
Short - under 1000 pages! (If you read Baroque Cycle, you’ll realize I’m not kidding)
It has an analemma on the cover!
It’s not set in the past.
It sounds a little like A Canticle for Leibowitz - a classic story.

Finally, the feud between Peter Jackson and MGM over The Hobbit has been solved. Jackson will be the executive producing the two Hobbit movies (thank god for 2 - fewer story cuts!) which will be filmed simultaneously.
