Christmas in July
Published July 8th, 2007Last night had the opportunity to check out The Decemberists at the Hollywood Bowl. They were backed by the LA Philharmonic, which was pretty cool to hear. I’m a sucker for strings in rock songs. If you haven’t heard The Decemberists, I recommend checking them out. To me, they sounded half like a cross between Oasis, REM, and Morrissey and half their own indie rock deal. While my companion for the evening wasn’t too jazzed about the Philharmonic, I thought it sounded pretty good.
It might be just me, it might be that I’m just noticing them more of late, but there seemed to be more cute redheads at the concert than in any single place I’ve ever seen. And plenty of attractive gals in general, of course. Summer concerts at the Hollywood Bowl - quite the atmosphere. Where do all these attractive people go when they’re not at the Bowl? I don’t know. I guess I didn’t get the memo - I’ll let you figure out what that means.
Speaking of the atmosphere, it got a little breezy and chilly as night fell. And of course I forgot to wear long sleeves or bring a light jacket or sweater. I wasn’t too cold, except for my arms. I’ll have to remember that sort of thing in the future.
Anyway, thumbs up for The Decemberists. Check them out. And to be honest, I think I had a “celebrity” sighting. I would swear that I saw Adam Sessler at the concert. If it wasn’t him - it was his doppleganger. I should have asked. I don’t know why I didn’t.
Dude, why didn’t you just tell me you went to go see the Decemberists? They are a fairly popular band, you know. Well, not that I actually know any of their stuff, but I’ve heard of them in several different places.
And dude, please tell me you don’t watch G4…that channel sucks!

of course the decemberists redeemed themselves on the tonight show monday! of course i spent WAY too long in line to see them, but i DID get to go by the kwik e mart and get a pink sprinkled donut on the way home at 8:30 a.m. from waiting for tickets! yum yum! the donut was divine!
